On Friday, September 28th, Aibai Culture & Education Center and IBM organized the 2nd Annual Workforce Diversity/LGBT Forum for Chinese Marketplace at the Beijing Hilton Hotel, China. The purpose of this forum is to raise awareness of the importance of creating an inclusive and diverse work environment among Chinese enterprises with best global diversity practices, build partnerships between corporations and for and promote LGBT/diversity in China.

IBM, the French Embassy Beijing and the European Union (through NPI and Internews Europe) provided funding for this event. Around 80 human resource and cultural diversity professionals, corporate decision makers, NGO and LGBT community leaders attended the forum.

During the forum, three LGBT employees and two NGO representatives, Community Business Limited and Aibai Culture & Education Center, shared their experiences and thoughts about the significance and community needs of promoting cultural diversity in business. Afterwards, the representatives of IBM and Thomson Reuters shared their efforts on promoting cultural diversity and offering more inclusive workplaces for LGBT employees. Finally, guests from IBM, Barclays, the British Council and the representatives from three NGOs, Aibai Culture & Education Center, PFLAG Guangzhou and Community Business Limited, discussed the effective collaboration mechanism between corporations and NGOs to promote cultural diversity in workplace.

According to the results of a post-event assessment questionnaire, over 70% of the respondents thought the forum met their expectations, and most guests felt that the forum had positive and far-reaching significance for their future work. Through the forum, Aibai Culture & Education Center strengthened relationships with other partners and made connections with more corporations and which laid the foundation for Aibai's future work.
